Subtitle Tracks

EZTitles can have unlimited number of tracks with subtitles. Each track can have a different name, language and even individual reading speed and characters per line settings. All tracks are saved and loaded with our .ezt and .eztxml project files.

Multiple subtitle tracks can have a variety of applications:

track dedicated to the dialogue list or the original script.

one or more tracks for second language translations.

track for forced narratives.

track for sound effects when delivering Closed Captions

track for overlapping vertical text in Japanese subtitles.

And so on as there might be tons of different applications for projects containing more than one subtitle tracks. All tracks will get conveniently saved to the project and will remain available for export as individual files when needed.

The number of tracks displayed/visible in the GUI is limited to two but they can be any two tracks in the project. We will refer to the displayed tracks as Main and Second for simplicity. These tracks are presented in the main editor, timeline and/or preview list. Most of the operations are performed on these two tracks but there is an option to perform certain operations on all tracks, including the ones that are not visible in the GUI. We'll talk about this in this topic.

Only the displayed/active tracks could be exported through the regular Export Subtitles menu. The remaining tracks can be exported one by one from the Manage Subtitle Tracks menu.

Every track could have different input language and spelling language, max. characters per line and reading speed settings. This can be extremely valuable when adding second language translation to your project and need all Quality Control checks to pass for both of them simultaneously.

The aspect of using multiple tracks in your work will be described in more details by the following topics:
