Manage Multiple Subtitle Tracks
<< Click to Display Table of Contents >> Navigation: Working with Subtitle Files > Subtitle Tracks > Manage Multiple Subtitle Tracks |
The Mange Subtitle Tracks menu provides quick configuration for all tracks in your project and can be access from File/Multiple Subtitle Tracks.
Tracks management
The window is divided into three distinguished parts: the available tracks list in the middle, main and secondary subtitle tracks selection drop-down menus at the bottom and the list of available operations on the right.
Index |
The sequential number of the track in the project. Track's order/number can be changed by using the Move Up and Move Down buttons to the right. |
Track Name |
Shows the name of the track. Tracks can be renamed directly in the grid by double clicking on the Track Name or using the Settings button on the right. By default, tracks are created as Subtitle Track 1, Subtitle Track 2, and so on. If the track is created using importing a third-party file, the name of the file will be used automatically. |
Language |
Each track can have different language. It is used as Input Language which by default also works as spelling language. Note: It's possible to have a track with one input language and different spelling language as long as you manually change the spelling language. |
Override |
Each track can override certain attributes of the Project Settings. This column indicates if the override is switched on/off for the particular track. |
Main Subtitles Track |
Allows you to select Main track from the list of available tracks. By default, the main track is the first track added to the project. |
Second Subtitles Track |
Allows you to select the Second track from the list of available tracks. Note that you can select <none> if you want only the main track visible. |
Preview and export |
This option allows subtitles from both tracks to be displayed in the main editor at the same time and later exported as a single file if needed. Here's a little background to the problem. Subtitles in the second track typically have the same or overlapping times as those in the main track and are displayed on top of each other in the main editor. This may be required if, for example, you are working on a Japanese project containing both horizontal and vertical subtitles. But if the second track contains a translation or a slightly different version of the main subtitles this behavior becomes undesirable. Note: Preview and export both tracks is available as a standalone command to which a keyboard shortcut can be assigned. |
New |
Adds new, empty track to the project. |
Import |
Allows you to import a file and add it as an additional track to your project. |
Export |
Exports the selected track as a stand-alone file. |
Delete |
Deletes the selected track. Note: Main track cannot be deleted, first you need to select another main track. |
Duplicate |
Creates a 1:1 duplicate copy (including the subtitles) of the selected track. |
Settings |
Opens a dialog window where you can change the track name and language, and override certain attributes of the Project Settings. Select Override Project Settings and then you can specify different reading speed and characters per line values for the track. |
Move up |
Moves the selected track up in the track list. |
Move Down |
Moves the selected track down in the track list. |
