OVR Import Configuration
Here you need to select the code page (encoding) to match that of the subtitle file. You can also import native Unicode UTF-8 and UTF-16 text files.
There’s a warning message displayed if you’re working in a non-Unicode mode and trying to import a Unicode text file and vice versa.
Here is a list of commonly used code pages:

It is important to mention that this file format doesn't support vertical position, alignment or outline and box effects. The file will be imported with the project's default attributes.
